Kohlbeck Awarded AHW Funding to Establish Infrastructure and Database for Wisconsin Suicide Reviews
Sara Kohlbeck, PhD, MPH, Dr. and Mrs. Michael C. Kubly Community-Based Suicide Prevention Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and director of the CIC’s Division of Suicide Research and Healing, has been awarded $46,254 from the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) for her project titled "Enhancing suicide review in Wisconsin: Elevating data and collaboration for prevention." With this funding, Kohlbeck’s team will work to establish a sustainable infrastructure for suicide review in Wisconsin, including the development of a statewide database to collect information gained through the work of the existing 15 teams currently engaged in suicide reviews in Wisconsin. Once developed, the infrastructure and database established through this project will be available to local and state suicide prevention organizations to improve health and prevent suicide.
Funding for this work will begin on Jan. 1, 2024 and will last for one year. Jacey Kant, BS, research program coordinator in the CIC’s Division of Suicide Research and Healing will serve as a co-investigator.
