Biography
Hello, my name is Natalia, and I am originally from Oak Creek, WI. Although I grew up in the Milwaukee area, I traveled to Florida for my bachelor’s degree, graduating from the University of Central Florida with a BS in Biomedical Sciences. During my time at UCF, I participated in genetics research and took on several mentoring roles, including working as a tutor and teaching assistant for upper-level courses such as Biochemistry, Genetics, and Neuroanatomy.
Following graduation, I began working as a medical scribe and ophthalmic assistant at local ophthalmology clinics, gaining experience in specialties including retina, cornea, and oculoplastics. I currently work part-time at a retina clinic specializing in inherited retinal diseases. I am passionate about serving the blind and low-vision community, particularly because I have an inherited genetic condition that has affected my own vision. Through my work in ophthalmology, I had the opportunity to work alongside genetic counselors, which ultimately sparked my interest in pursuing genetic counseling.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing, reading, unsuccessfully learning to crochet, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with my cats. I am excited to be back in Milwaukee and to explore parts of Wisconsin that I did not see or fully appreciate growing up. I am especially looking forward to rediscovering all the restaurants serving custard, which I greatly missed while living out of state!
