Biography
Ramesh received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Bern in 2014. The aim of the thesis was to promote the neurogenic potential of placental derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) that may have the potential to differentiate into neural lineages. During his postdoctoral fellowship (2015-2018), he focused on vascular and neuronal repair with adipose derived MSC in Retinopathy, developing gene therapy targeting human trabecular meshwork cells for treating glaucoma and studied the effect of a mutation specifically in exon-18 to have better understanding of the RPGR isoform in photoreceptors. He joined Dr. Lipinski’s laboratory in 2019 where he is focusing on developing stem cell strategy to restore photoreceptors and tools for studying for diabetic retinopathy.
Research Interests
Ramesh's current research interests are in stem cell differentiation for vision restoration and research tools for diabetic retinopathy.
