Hobbies & Interests: I love to get outside and enjoy the Wisconsin summers! This includes walking and biking the Oak leaf trail with my family and golfing at the Milwaukee county courses. My favorite way to unwind at the end of the week is with pizza from Balistreri’s and frozen custard from Gilles or trying new recipes with my Traeger.
Why I chose MCW: I chose MCW because of the operative experience and well-rounded training for residents with busy trauma, pediatric, and VA services. As a medical student, I saw how the residents took pride in their work and were rewarded with graduated autonomy in the operating room. I was impressed with how faculty mentored residents and were invested in their development as they progressed through their training.
What MCW has to offer a candidate: Our program fosters a strong culture of teaching, supported by both faculty and senior residents. Whether in conference, clinic, or the OR, resident education is clearly a priority, with consistent opportunities to build our knowledge and surgical skills. Every day, I see senior residents take the time to share practical tips – whether in the OR, the ED, or while navigating the challenges of busy services. It’s a collaborative environment where you can truly learn and grow, supported by co-residents who are invested in each other’s success.
What I like most about living in Milwaukee: Milwaukee has offered the best of both worlds for my family. We love having fun opportunities without the hassle and traffic of a major city. From the Bucks, Brewers, and Broadway shows to an incredible restaurant scene, there’s always something fun to do. In the summer, I especially enjoy outdoor concerts in the park and golfing at the Milwaukee County courses. It’s a vibrant, welcoming city that we've been grateful to call home during residency training.
