Medical College of Wisconsin Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Hospital Medicine physicians (hospitalists) have special expertise allowing them to provide the very best care to hospitalized children of all ages. Hospitalists serve as the attending physician for patients admitted to Children's Wisconsin, who do not have a primary care physician on staff at Children's. The hospitalist communicates with the primary care physician by phone or fax during the hospitalization, and after discharge, by forwarding any medical reports received after the patient's discharged to the primary care physician. Hospitalists are available for pediatric consults as well, if the patient's primary care provider is not on staff. Hospitalists are on site during the day, seven days a week, to answer parent's questions and attend to the changing medical condition of the patient. Hospitalists have teaching, research and leadership positions at the Medical College of Wisconsin. As MCW faculty, they supervise the house staff assigned to the hospitalist team.
