Research Interests

Dr. Morelli (Welch) is an exercise physiologist whose overall research goal is to develop and test interventions to increase physical activity and other health behaviors among cancer survivors to prevent or manage symptoms and side effects associated with cancer and its treatments, such as physical function, fatigue, pain, and overall quality of life. She is particularly interested in moving beyond the “one size fits all” physical activity prescription and developing tailored, personalized physical activity prescriptions for individuals based on their personal, social, emotional, and physical circumstances.

Additionally, Dr. Morelli has done extensive work in understanding and improving the measurement of physical activity and sedentary behavior through the use of wearable devices – both research grade and commercial devices.

Dr. Morelli is currently the PI of a five-year NCI K award and MPI of a three-year NSF M3X award.
