Biography

Dr. Fujiwara is an assistant professor of medicine (hematology and oncology) specializing in precision oncology, early-phase clinical trials, and the care of patients with rare cancers. His clinical and academic work focuses on developing and expanding clinical trial opportunities so that patients in the community can access innovative and cutting-edge cancer therapies.

He received his medical degree from Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, where he also completed residency training in internal medicine and medical oncology. He subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (Beth Israel) in New York, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Fujiwara’s research interests include early-phase drug development, precision oncology, and biomarker research aimed at improving the effectiveness and safety of cancer immunotherapy. His honors include the American Association for Cancer Research–Johnson & Johnson Clinical Oncology Research Training Fellowship, American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Awards, and the Gerald L. Logue, MD Memorial Award.
