Working as a physician has taught me that the patient will frequently tell you the diagnosis if you know how to listen. My goal, and the most interesting part of each patient’s interaction, is to use the patient’s story along with a thorough exam to make an appropriate diagnosis. I will use the latest in our understanding of the disease to educate and present all the options for treatment based on that diagnosis and help make a mutual decision on how to proceed. These interactions provide the basis for an excellent relationship and mutual respect between the physician and the patient.
