Biography

Dr. Elizabeth Nolte (Harkin) is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon. She completed her trauma fellowship at the world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the first trauma center in the United States.

As an orthopaedic traumatologist at eastern Wisconsin’s only adult Level I Trauma Center,  Dr. Nolte is responsible for treating some of the most complex, and severe orthopaedic injuries in Wisconsin. This includes fractures and dislocations of the upper extremities, lower extremities and pelvis. Patients from across the state, and often from outside health systems, seek her expertise for routine and highly complex fractures.

Since joining the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2021, Dr. Nolte has quickly gained national recognition as a leader in orthopaedic traumatology.  She has served as a faculty member and lecturer at numerous national meetings, secured a national research grant from AO North America, and published her research in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.

In addition to her accomplishments as an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Nolte is also a former elite athlete.  She was an All-American soccer player at Arizona State University and won a gold medal with the US National Team at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Nolte enjoys cooking, traveling, cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers and spending time with her husband, daughter and German shepherd.
