As a critical care cardiologist, I provide intensive care services to the most acutely ill patients across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease. My philosophy is that a robust cardiac critical care program supports cardiovascular care throughout the health system by ensuring that the sickest patients can be taken care of in the intensive care unit where their needs can be met, while allowing those with less urgent care requirements to be managed safely elsewhere with appropriate support. This helps to match the needs of each patient to the intensity of care that they provide and ensures that patients can receive high-risk and cutting-edge cardiovascular procedures with confidence that they will be supported as they recover. I believe in a balanced approach between aggressive and conservative interventions that is tailored to each patient's individual needs and goals within the context of their illness.
