Biography
Dr. Mendez graduated from medical school at the Universidad de Carabobo in Venezuela. He came to the US and finished his internal medicine residency at the Cook County Hospital, affiliate with Rush University in Chicago, IL. He proceeded to complete a fellowship in diabetes at the East Carolina University. He served as the Director of the Diabetes Management Program at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Albany, NY for six years. Dr. Mendez is a recognized expert in diabetes with several peer reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited lectures at the regional, national, and international level.
