Biography

Dr. Abubakr Mohamed is an Endocrinologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He oversees and directs the Outpatient Transplant Endocrine Clinic, leading specialized endocrine care for transplant recipients. His clinical work focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of transplant-associated endocrine and metabolic disorders through a multidisciplinary care model in close collaboration with transplant programs.

Dr. Mohamed completed medical school at the University of Khartoum in Sudan, followed by Internal Medicine residency training at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, and fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Stanford University School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Mohamed earned Master’s degrees in International Health from Uppsala University in Sweden and in Molecular Medicine from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.

His academic interests include advancing equitable endocrine care delivery, addressing Health disparities in diabetes and metabolic disease, and improving outcomes in medically complex populations, including transplant recipients and individuals in low-resource settings.

Dr. Mohamed provides clinical care at Froedtert Hospital and the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. As Director of the Transplant Endocrinology Virtual Symposium, he is committed to advancing education at the intersection of endocrinology and transplantation and strengthening programs that support coordinated, evidence-based endocrine care for transplant recipients.
