Biography
Dr. Yim completed his early education in Oxford and attended University College London Medical school, which has consistently been in the top 10 medical schools in the world. His early surgical training was completed in Edinburgh, and he was then appointed as a nationally selected Cardiothoracic trainee in the UK's 8-year training program in Birmingham. During his training, he developed sub-specialty interests in Mitral Valve surgery and Cardiopulmonary transplantation. At the end of his training, he won the coveted McCormack medal for the highest score and most outstanding performance in the FRCS(C-Th) exams (the UK's equivalent to the American board exams). In his final year of training, he completed a Fellowship at Royal Papworth Hospital focusing further on Mitral Valve surgery and Heart/Lung transplantation. Upon completion of his Fellowship, he was appointed as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon in Birmingham performing the full breadth of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiopulmonary Transplantation.
