A Celebration of Discovery, Storytelling & Community Across MCW and Beyond

The Linda T. and John A. Mellowes Center for Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine is proud to share the success of the 2025 Mellowes Center Symposium, held this November 12-13. Whether attending in person or virtually, participants helped create an energizing two-day experience filled with scientific innovation, powerful storytelling, and meaningful collaboration across the MCW community, nationally, and internationally. Scientific Panels & Keynote Sessions

This year’s scientific sessions featured leading experts in genetics, epigenetics, precision medicine, and translational research. Engaging panel discussions and keynote presentations highlighted breakthroughs, sparked new collaborations, and inspired forward-thinking ideas for the future of biomedical discovery.

Rare Storytellers™ — Stories of Resilience & Hope In partnership with Harmony 4 Hope, the Rare Storytellers™ session once again grounded the symposium in the lived experiences of patients and families impacted by rare diseases.

This year’s storytellers, Taylor and Claire, shared heartfelt journeys shaped by courage, healing, and strength—reminding all of us of the human purpose behind scientific advancement.

Poster Sessions & Lightning Talks

Trainees and early-career scientists from across MCW presented innovative research in an enthusiastic and highly interactive poster session. Lightning talks brought energy and momentum, showcasing new techniques, fresh discoveries, and promising ideas that will fuel future research.
