The Standardized Teaching Assessment Resource Center provides a controlled environment where students, residents, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can practice their clinical skills using standardized (or actor) patients, medical simulators and task trainers under the direction of MCW faculty and staff. In the STAR Center, students have the opportunity to practice interacting with and caring for patients in a safe learning environment. By using medical simulators as they learn new procedures, students and medical professionals can make mistakes without putting patients or themselves at risk.
We are dedicated to providing a venue in which to host courses, workshops, and a variety of other events that provide practical hands on clinical experiences for all users including medical students, residents as well as other healthcare professionals. Many of these events can incorporate the use of standardized patients and simulators to best achieve a scenario that imitates real life clinical experience while providing a safe and controlled environment for all users.
Our staff is dedicated to provide the best simulation experiences possible and to continually evaluate and implement new methodologies and technologies.
