MCW AWSM Center - Focus Areas
Leadership Learning Collaborative (LLC)
Beginning as a pilot program in 2020, our Leadership Learning Collaborative (LLC) now has over 100 leaders who are in our LLC network.
Through the LLC, MCW’s leaders will:
- Grow leadership skills and knowledge through monthly interactive workshops led by experts
- Apply lessons learned to personal leadership challenges through facilitated group-based discussions
- Build connections with other leaders at MCW through networking events and small group work
- Invest in a personal project that advances the participant’s career and relationship with their leader
Restorative Practices Initiative
Piloted in 2024 with a small group of facilitators, AWSM launched its Restorative Practices Initiative to create a proactive process for building community, strengthening relationships, and dealing with conflict. Originating from indigenous cultures and religious traditions, restorative circles have been utilized for thousands of years, primarily to resolve conflict and heal communities, but also to proactively build a sense of belonging and connectedness for communities. To help us build a strong MCW community, a team of your colleagues is providing the opportunity to participate in Listening Circles.
Restorative Practices (RP) Listening Circles encourage participants to actively practice freedom of expression by sharing their own stories and perspectives without interruption. Circles are excellent opportunities to practice the free exchange of ideas. Circle facilitators are trained to be multi-partial, encouraging the contributions and viewpoints of all participants and ensuring all voices in the circle have ample opportunities to share. These Listening Circles give faculty, staff, and learners the opportunity to listen, share experiences, and build a stronger sense of community in a respectful and inclusive environment. As referenced in our Freedom of Expression Principles, MCW aspires to a truly diverse culture wherein everyone in our community, from all backgrounds and perspectives, has a voice and is free to participate in active dialogue. We encourage all members of our community to share their perspectives and ideas.
