Why did I choose MCW for fellowship? I chose MCW for fellowship because I wanted to be close to home and family. Additionally, being at a Level IV NICU connected to a busy birth center (Froedtert Hospital) provides so many opportunities for learning and procedures all in one place. One of the best parts of fellowship in Milwaukee has been the people. There is a sense of teamwork amongst the faculty, NNPs, nurses, and fellows/residents that makes caring for our NICU babies so rewarding. Lastly, there are incredible opportunities for research experience – whether you are interested in basic science, quality improvement, clinical research, or more.
One of the best things about living in Milwaukee? I love Milwaukee because it’s a great place to live with so much to do year-round. Milwaukee has so many good restaurants and cafés – we love to try different local coffee shops whenever we can! There’s also tons of parks and walking trails in the area that are family and dog friendly. Some of our other favorites include cheering on the Milwaukee Bucks/Brewers and going golfing.
