Biophysics Graduate Student Wins IES Poster Award

Anand Anilkumar, graduate student in Dr. Jason Sidabras’ lab in the Department of Biophysics, won the Best Poster Award at Anand Anilkumarthe European Federation of EPR Summer School 2025, which was held at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. This is a major honor given the wide range of EPR (electron paramagnetic resonance) applications presented.

Anand designed and 3D-printed tiny aqueous sample holders with a “lattice” shape that requires less plastic, lowering losses and improving EPR signal intensity for the same sample volume. His work drew strong interest from laboratories worldwide, highlighting both the impact of his research and his ability to communicate it effectively. Anand will be featured in the International EPR Society (IES) magazine.

Anand’s work was supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under award number R01GM149568.
