Dr. Patel is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology and Assistant Professor in the Division of Global, Community, and Environmental Health within the Institute for Health & Humanity at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a radiation oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies and central nervous system (CNS) tumors, with particular clinical interests in hepatic, pancreatic, biliary, colorectal, and anal cancers, and advanced radiation technologies (stereotactic radiation therapy, CT and MR adaptive radiotherapy, and gamma knife).
His academic work seeks to improve equitable access to high-quality cancer care across diverse communities and health systems. He has particular interests in sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, and in developing community-engaged approaches that connect clinical oncology with population health.
Through his work across local, national, and global settings, Dr. Patel aims to better understand and address structural barriers that shape access to care, treatment delivery, and outcomes across the cancer care continuum.
