Kathleen Christians, MD, Selected as Recipient of the Thomas L. Smallwood Award for Clinical Excellence

Kathleen K. Christians, MD, has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 Thomas L. Smallwood Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Christians is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology. This award is presented by the Froedtert Hospital Board of Directors to recognize a faculty member for their outstanding contributions to patient care. The recipient demonstrates world class commitment to patients through achievements such as providing excellent clinical outcomes that surpass national benchmarks, developing multidisciplinary care programs that are remarkable in quality of care, or contributing to scientific research that directly impacts patient care.

Nominations for this award were accepted from faculty, advanced practice providers, residents, hospital leaders and hospital staff. Dr. Christians will receive a designated, reserved parking space for one year in honor of her accomplishments.

The award is presented in honor of its namesake, Thomas L. Smallwood, who served as Chairman of the Board of Froedtert Hospital from 1985–2001. During this time, Mr. Smallwood was known for his commitment to excellence and impassioned advocacy for patients.
