Mellowes Center Director Represents MCW at Global G7 Cancer Summit in Paris
Raul A. Urrutia, MD, Director of the Mellowes Center for Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine and the Warren P. Knowles Chair of Genomics and Precision Medicine, recently served as a keynote speaker at the prestigious G7 Cancer conference in Paris. The Cancer Summit convenes leading researchers, clinicians, and policymakers from around the world to foster collaboration and share the latest breakthroughs in the fight against cancers with the poorest prognoses.
Dr. Urrutia represented the United States, and joining colleagues from G7 nations, he will help to craft a roadmap for innovation and invention in precision medicine, to be published.
As part of this international gathering, Dr. Urrutia presented pioneering research strategies that harness precision medicine and systems biology to better understand and treat rare and aggressive cancers. His keynote highlighted the Mellowes Center’s commitment to advancing innovative research that redefines how these complex diseases are initiated, diagnosed, and managed.
The invitation to speak at the G7 reflects Dr. Urrutia’s leadership in the field and the growing global recognition of the cutting-edge work being done by faculty and researchers within MCW’s Research Division within the Department of Surgery.
