Biography

Dr. Colella is a professor of emergency medicine, and is the division chief of EMS Medicine. He currently serves as the EMS Medical Director for the State of Wisconsin. Additionally, he is faculty for MCW’s Institute for Health & Humanity, developing academic EMS curricula for international physician development. Dr. Colella has an extensive background in EMS, technical rescue, and critical care transport that spans three decades. Prior to his recruitment to MCW, he was the medical director for Johns Hopkins University’s Critical Care Transport Program. Other appointments include an Emergency Services Section Physician for the United States Secret Service and disaster physician for Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and EMS.
