Biography

Dr. Hooyer is a medical anthropologist with expertise in ethnographic and performative arts-based qualitative methods. Her skill set includes in-depth interviewing, participant observation, arts-based data generation, and collaboratively developed data collection methods that engage research participants. Her research focuses on trauma and moral injury in Veteran and justice involved populations, and examines the impact of peer-led arts, humanities and therapeutic interventions on individual health outcomes. As a community-engaged scholar, she uses the arts to translate research and disseminate findings for the public and communities she works with.
