Biography
In Dr. Williams' opinion, service is the most satisfying aspect of working in healthcare. Being able to educate patients is a rewarding experience, especially when patients understand the message, partner with you to adopt healthier lifestyles, become empowered and resilient, and translate their newfound knowledge and abilities to others. Equally as important, however, is establishing safeguards that ensure quality and equitable care for everyone. Dr. Williams believes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best: "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." We must do our parts to reduce and eliminate health disparities that affect our nation today!
Dr. Williams earned a Master in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health and Prevention from Drexel University and became a Doctor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). After medical school, Dr. Williams completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Disparities at the Center for Health Disparities Research at MUSC.
