Ali Ishaq, BS
UWM–MCW Fellowship Student
Biography
I joined Dr. Sun’s laboratory to conduct my fellowship as part of the UWM–MCW Cancer Center Fellowship program. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology with a pre-medical focus from UW-Milwaukee. My early research centered on characterizing the development and function of various Natural Killer (NK) cell subsets following viral infections. Building on this foundation, I am now developing novel CAR-NK therapies. My current project focuses on targeting CD24-positive minimal residual disease in multiple myeloma using CAR-NK cells, bridging my foundational NK cell research with translational immunotherapy. This transition from basic to translational research has been deeply rewarding, as it enables me to contribute to innovative therapies with meaningful clinical impact. Through this work, I aim to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical care to improve patient outcomes.
