Shijing Wang, PhD

Postdoctoral Researcher

Biography

Dr. Shijing Wang, PhD, joined Dr. Fumou Sun’s laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Wang earned her PhD from China Pharmaceutical University, China, where her research focused on the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic strategies of immune-related diseases. Following her doctoral training, she completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, China, conducting cutting-edge research on biochemical medicine, including protein engineering and immune regulation. Driven by a strong passion for translational research, Dr. Wang has now joined Dr. Fumou Sun’s team, where she focuses on the preclinical development of CAR-T therapies based on gene editing technologies for cancer treatment, such as multiple myeloma. Further, she is also investigating the in vivo CAR engineering approaches to treatment of diseases such as cancer, by enhancing the efficacy of ex vivo-generated autologous CAR-T cells by reducing manufacturing time, mitigating exhaustion and improving memory and effector functions. Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking, exploring new destinations, and capturing nature through travel.
