Members are nominated by peers, faculty and staff for being actively involved in advancing the profession of pharmacy, demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and exhibiting high moral and ethical character.
“This organization recognizes leaders, cultivates their development and inspires transformational change in the profession of pharmacy,” said Kevin Bozymski, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, associate professor and faculty advisor for MCW’s Epsilon Rho chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma. “When selecting people for the Society, it is not just recognizing what they have done to date as pharmacy students – but also recognizing they have the potential to continue growing in their leadership journey.”
Keynote speaker Kristin Bialkowski, PharmD, acute care pharmacist manager and preceptor at Froedtert Hospital, stressed how vital it is to cultivate leaders in the pharmacy field which is constantly evolving.
“Pharmacists are not just medication distributors. We are educators, advocates, problem solvers, innovators, and most importantly, leaders in health,” said Dr. Bialkowski. “Leadership in our field doesn’t always receive a spotlight, but we know our contributions are vital. When you identify a drug interaction on a patient’s medical profile, call the provider to recommend a change... or sit down with a patient to counsel them about how to use their albuterol inhaler properly... you are leading.”
Epsilon Rho chapter president Sukna Sawah, 2026 PharmD candidate, led the initiates in the oath of Phi Lambda Sigma, where they promised “to work for the advancement of pharmacy through leadership and service and to practice the duties of the profession with dignity, knowledge, ethics and a genuine concern for the wellbeing of those they serve.”
