About IHS

The Institute for Health & Society was established in 1994 under the leadership of late Dr. Richard “Buz” Cooper. The original Institute consisted of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities. In April of 2013, the Division of Population Health Improvement was added.

IHS Education

The Institute for Health & Society hosts four degree and five certificate programs under the (MCW) Graduate School. The Institute offers master degrees, doctor of philosophy degrees, and certificate programs.

IHS Divisions

The Institute for Health and society is comprised of four divisions at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). We have expertise in basic science, clinical and community health fields of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Bioethics, and Population Health Improvement.
