Southeast Wisconsin Data Science (SEAWINDS) Research Symposium

"Artificial Intelligence Enabling Translational Science”

About SEAWINDS

The Southeast Wisconsin Data Science (SEAWINDS) Collaborative held its Second Annual SEAWINDS Research Symposium on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Diercks Hall). The theme of this year’s event, “Artificial Intelligence Enabling Translational Science,” highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in advancing data-driven healthcare and translational research.

Hosted by the Milwaukee School of Engineering and sponsored by the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Data Science Institute (DSI) and the Southeast Wisconsin Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the Symposium brought together faculty, staff, trainees, and community partners from across the region to exchange ideas and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

The success of this event reflects the hard work and dedication of the SEAWINDS Collaborative members.

The program featured a keynote presentation by Nigel Nelson, Machine Learning Engineer at NVIDIA, who discussed his pioneering work in healthcare AI, including imitation learning for healthcare robotics and advances in vision-language models. The event also included podium presentations and a poster session showcasing innovative research initiatives from participating institutions.
