Welcome to the Division of Geriatrics giving page!

We value the education and training of our medical students, residents and fellows. In order to advance their knowledge and experience, it is important that they can present their research and scholarly work and attend local and national medical conferences without financial concern. If you are interested in contributing to the lives of future geriatricians, please consider donating to The Mary E. Cohan, MD, Endowed Education Fund in Geriatrics.

Dr. Mary Cohan died in February 2017 after a short but courageous fight against cancer.

She was just 60 years old. She served on the faculty of the Medical College of Wisconsin for over 28 years and was an Associate Professor of Medicine (Geriatrics/Gerontology). In addition, Mary was Medical Director of Clement Manor and Care Age of Brookfield, and a staff physician in the Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic at Froedtert Hospital and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. She also held leadership positions in the Wisconsin Association of Medical Directors, including past president. She was certified in Palliative Medicine as well as Geriatric Medicine and did serve as staff on the VA Medical Center palliative unit.

Mary was a leader in geriatrics, a skilled physician, a devoted mother, and a beloved friend and colleague. She is missed greatly, but her imprint on all of us will last forever.

The Mary E. Cohan, MD, Endowed Education Fund in Geriatrics ensures that Mary’s outstanding legacy endures, and resources will remain available so that she can continue to impact residents and medical students at MCW well into the future.

We are grateful for your consideration.
