Dr. Joe Carroll Invited to Serve on NIH Study Section

Joseph Carroll, PhD, Richard O. Schultz, MD / Ruth Works Professor of Ophthalmology Professor of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences has been invited by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to serve as a Member of the Imaging and Bioengineering Technology for Visual Systems Study Section (IBV). Dr. Carroll's term began in August 2025 and ends in June 2027.

The IBV study section reviews applications on the development and translation of novel imaging and bioengineering technologies for the study of visual systems. The study section is primarily focused upon imaging and technology development and methods as well as ocular device engineering and bioengineering approaches for treatment of eye injury and correction for refraction error or corneal remodeling.

Dr. Carroll was nominated because of his demonstrated competence and achievement in his scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of his research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements, and honors.
