Health Leaders in Milwaukee: Keep Up with Students’ Vaccinations
As a new school year looms, health leaders in Milwaukee urge parents to keep up with their student’s vaccinations. Dr. Ben Weston, professor of Emergency Medicine at MCW, shared “only about 89% of students in Wisconsin have met the immunization requirements last year”. This number is down from 92% in 2020 and is even lower in the Milwaukee public school system.
Dr. Weston acknowledges the list can be overwhelming but emphasizes the importance of relying on medical professionals to help keep track. The Wisconsin Immunization Registry is a state computer database where health care providers can record all immunizations they give.
