Publication – OGTL research published in PLoS One

Dr Ramesh Periasamy and Dr Dwani Patel (joint first authors) today published a study describing the generation of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors with improved targeting for endothelial cells following local and systemic injection. Key findings include that the incorporation of a 7-mer peptide (SGNSGAA) into an external loop domain of the capsid mutant QuadYF-TV serotype led to a dramatic increase in heart transduction, which may be utilized for the treatment of cardiomyopathy in complex vascular disease, such as diabetes.

This study was carried out in collaboration with Dr Shannon Boye and Mr Sanford Boye of the University of Florida and was supported through a Research Project Grant (R01EY027767) from the National Eye Institute.
