Fellowship Overview

Multi-site, tertiary care hospital with a diverse patient population, managing critically ill patients with 24-hour, fully staffed emergency imaging team and state of the art equipment.

Trauma Radiology

  • Level 1 trauma center, including Flight for Life
  • Receives all major trauma victims in the area: motor vehicle, gun and knife trauma, occupational, mass casualty
  • In-house trauma surgery

Non Traumatic Emergency Radiology

  • Tertiary care center with a large sub-specialty referral base, managing after hours emergent imaging for specialties including:
    • Neurosurgery
    • Oncology
    • Orthopedics
    • Transplant
  • Certified comprehensive stroke center with in-house neuro interventional team
  • Inpatient critical care imaging, including medical and neuro ICU

Emergency Imaging Team

  • 24 hour in-house faculty
  • Junior and senior on call residents
  • Dedicated radiology liaison managing / triaging calls
  • 24 hour in-house CT and MRI technologists, sonographers and 3D imaging tech to generate 3D sequences and perfusion maps
  • Team based approach with all major sub-specialties on site including surgical teams (e.g. trauma, vascular, orthopedic and transplant), neurology, ENT, ophthalmology

Comprehensive, State of the Art Imaging including:

  • Head to toe CT, including dual energy
  • Full body CT angiography with tech-generated 3D sequences
  • CT perfusion
  • Emergent MR including:
    • Brain
    • MR angiogram head and neck
    • MRCP
    • MSK
    • MR abdomen in pregnancy, r/o appendicitis
  • Emergent US (pelvic, scrotal, vascular, transplant evaluation)
  • Fluoroscopy, including procedural (joint aspiration and LP)

Role of the Emergency Radiology Fellow

  • Key and integral member of a 24/7, dedicated team of Emergency Radiology specialists
  • Interpret multi-modality imaging for trauma and acutely ill patients under the direct supervision of 24/7 in house Emergency Radiology faculty
  • Serve as a consultant for multi-specialty resident and staff physicians to communicate critical results and provide imaging selection and protocol guidance
  • 1 month elective rotations in other radiology subspecialties
  • Participate in didactic learning opportunities including lectures and journal club meetings
