Interested in Becoming an MCW CIC Member?

As a Comprehensive Injury Center member, you will join a group of individuals who strive to make meaningful contributions to research, education, patient care, and community outreach activities focused on reducing injury and violence. You will also receive access to a variety of membership benefits.

To Become a Member

  1. Complete the CIC Member Database Survey.

  2. After completion of the form, the CIC will notify you of selection.

  3. Update your Faculty Collaboration Database (FCD) profile to note that you are affiliated with the Comprehensive Injury Center.

Primary

  • Full-time or Full Professional Effort (PFE) faculty appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Active injury-related research/clinical/educational program

Affiliate

Affiliate membership is designated for individuals who make meaningful contributions to the research, education, patient care, and community outreach activities related to injury science and control, but do not meet the above criteria for primary membership. Affiliate membership may also be appropriate for faculty whose primary membership is with another institutional Center, but who wish to be involved with the CIC community, and may include:

  • Non-MCW faculty or injury/violence researchers;
  • Injury/violence researchers at other institutions (BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, etc.);
  • MCW Staff, Post-Docs, students with an interest in injury and/or violence;
  • Others, by invitation from CIC Director or Administration

Member Benefits

Membership benefits begin immediately upon acceptance as a CIC Member:

  • Access to up-to-date information related to ICRC funding and additional CDC opportunities for researchers and trainees
  • Collaboration with a network of injury and violence prevention and control researchers and professionals
  • Assistance with development of research dissemination plans
  • Eligibility to apply as PI for CIC Seed Project Funding pilot awards (one or two year grants awarded on a competitive basis for the support of novel multidisciplinary research)
  • Priority access and negotiated rates to use current and future CIC core resources (Biostats, MART, etc.)
  • Higher priority for access to CIC research offices/lab space
  • Access to philanthropic funds directed to CIC-specific programs (as appropriate and as approved by the Director)
  • Receive invitations to CIC-related meetings, seminars, retreats, and special events throughout the year
  • Receive CIC communications and announcements including our newsletter sent every other month
  • Opportunities to receive mentorship from senior researchers and/or serve as a mentor in various CIC programs with junior researchers and students
  • Membership listing on the CIC website and materials

Receive support from CIC Administrative staff for:

  • Development and submission of various grants
  • FCD maintenance
  • Manuscript review/submission
  • Other administrative tasks as needed
Member Expectations

Primary Members

  • Primary members are expected to make meaningful contributions to the research, clinical, educational, and policy activities of the CIC in one or more of the following ways:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the CIC’s mission to enhance research across the translational spectrum related to injury prevention and control;
  • Regularly attend CIC meetings, seminars, retreats, and other special events;
  • Participate in ad hoc review committees for funding proposals of fellow CIC members upon request;
  • Acknowledge any CIC support on all publications, oral/poster presentations, grant submissions (including selecting the CIC as an affiliate center in eBridge as appropriate), and internal/external media announcements;
  • Maintain your credentials, appointments, publications list and CV through the Faculty Collaboration Database (FCD);
  • Share areas of expertise as mentors to junior faculty (for senior members);
  • As requested, submit regular progress reports for any projects funded by CIC seed/pilot grants
Affiliate Members

Affiliate members are expected to make meaningful contributions to the research activities and mission of the CIC to advance the science of injury prevention and control in order to make our communities healthier and safer for all.
