Dr. Staci Young Named Among 2023 Women of Influence by Milwaukee Business Journal
Milwaukee, May 2, 2023 – Staci Young, PhD, Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Director of the Center for Healthy Communities and Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), has been named one of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2023 Women of Influence. The list of winners includes other prominent business and community leaders from throughout southeastern Wisconsin who are making the Milwaukee area a better place to live.
Dr. Young is recognized for her committed, patient, and well-respected work on community health issues. Included in her nomination:
“Colleagues call Dr. Staci Young one of the most committed, patient, and well-respected individuals at the Medical College of Wisconsin working on community health issues. Dr. Young invests not only her time, but her emotional energy, into her work, conducting research on topics that can be very challenging (commercial sex work and cancer). She also has a natural sense of engagement and respect in her dealings with community partners, seeing these individuals as more than colleagues. She sees them as people working toward similar goals, with complex lives, important stories to tell, and the right to voice their concerns and be heard. Most recently, Dr. Young was appointed as Director for Community Engagement, Senior Associate Dean for Community Engagement and the inaugural ThriveOn Collaboration Faculty Director.”
Thirty women, including Dr. Young, have been honored this year as part of the Milwaukee Business Journal's Women of Influence Awards.
“These women are the cream of the crop of Milwaukee’s professional community. They’ve grown businesses, created products, inspired future generations and made southeastern Wisconsin a better place,” said Mark Kass, editor-in-chief of the Milwaukee Business Journal.
This is the 22nd year the Milwaukee Business Journal has honored Milwaukee’s most influential women, receiving nearly 140 nominations for this year’s program. The winners will be honored in a special section in the June 16 issue and at a June 15 awards event at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee.
The full list of winners is available online on May 5.
