A Trauma Center is classified as “Level I” when it provides the highest level of specialty expertise and meets strict national standards. Specialized teams, facilities and equipment are available around the clock to treat life-threatening injuries.

The department has the capability to replant major limbs and perform complex reconstructions using advanced microsurgical techniques. The department has special expertise in stabilization of spinal and pelvic fractures.

The traumatologists are also experts in treating the sequelae of trauma; post-traumatic reconstruction, non-unions, mal-unions, and infection. Under study is the Ilizarov method, a technique for bone-lengthening, and dealing with bone loss resulting from trauma and infection.
