Medical College of Wisconsin Community Health Educational Programs

The Public & Community Health PhD program at MCW, the first of its kind in Wisconsin, provides you with advanced public health training that creates opportunities for original, independent research that focuses on relevant public health issues

At the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), the core of everything we do is academic medicine, which brings together scientists, physicians, students and community members to solve challenges in health and society. If you’re an MCW-Milwaukee medical student with an interest in advancing the health of the public, the MD/MPH dual degree program was created just for you.

The accredited, online DrPH program consists of 46 credits including 10 dissertation credits. The curriculum is delivered using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities including three summer visits to campus. Students will participate in a cohort model and the program is designed to be completed in three years. 

Our Master of Science Genetic Counseling program’s mission to cultivate exceptional genetic counseling leaders who reflect the visible and invisible diversity of communities we serve. We aim to create compassionate, academically minded individuals who prioritize health equity, advocacy, and cultural humility in our communities. The MSGC Program will prepare the next generation of genetic counselors to be diverse leaders at the forefront in the delivery of precision health.

The new Masters of Science in Global Health Equity program consists of 36 credits including a 6-credit thesis work experience which students may complete with one of our many international or local partners. This highly interactive program offers courses primarily in person and allows for full-time or part-time study. Most students will complete the program in three semesters and one summer.

MCW’s Community Health Assessment & Planning certificate program provides you with the training to confidently assess, improve, and monitor the health of various populations.

MCW’s Population Health Management certificate program prepares you to apply the concept of the Quadruple Aim (Bodenheimer, 2014): improved population health outcomes, improved patient and provider experiences, and reduced per-person costs.
