Graduate School COVID-19 Resources

As the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving, MCW will provide updated information related to the Graduate School. Below you will find information for:

Student Covid-19 Exposure and Safety

MCW has released a document (PDF) with information on how to get tested as well as the process should you become exposed, have symptoms or test positive. As a reminder, if a student has any suspected symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) or concerns about potential COVID-19 exposure, please have stay at home and contact your healthcare professional immediately. If the healthcare provider is unable to be reached or you do not have one, please contact (414) 805-7997 and they will be able to assist immediately. The health professional will be better able to diagnose whether you have the flu, COVID-19 or something else. It is important for you to call ahead to the clinic, so you are triaged to an appropriate location for testing. Once the healthcare provider is contacted, please reach out to Angie Backus at abackus@mcw.edu or (414) 405-8124 to report that you are experiencing symptoms, have been exposed to COVID-19 or have tested positive. Angie will serve as the Graduate Student initial point of contact for students. Human Resources (HR-Covid-Hotline@mcw.edu or (414) 955-8347) is the main MCW point of contact for all COVID-related cases and can answer any questions. All cases reported to Angie Backus will be sent to Human Resources as well.

To ensure the health and safety of all students, faculty, and staff, the following COVID-19 precautions (the three “Ws”) must continue to be followed on campus:

  1. Wear a facial covering. All individuals are required to wear a facial covering – be it a disposable mask, reusable mask, scarf, or tied bandana/handkerchief – while inside MCW-owned or leased facilities. This includes while you are walking the hallways. Your facial covering must cover both your nose and your mouth to be effective. If you remove your mask to eat or drink, refrain from speaking until your mask is back on. Noncompliance of these requirements should be reported to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) using the “Close-Call Form”. Individuals can remain anonymous when they report a possible noncompliance concern.
  2. Watch your distance. Physical distancing of six feet or greater must be observed in all campus buildings. It also includes any other indoor space you may utilize throughout the day, including while eating lunch. Physical distancing must be practiced AND face coverings must be worn at all times unless you are alone in a closed room.
  3. Wash your hands.Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds.

Additionally, all students, faculty, and staff are required to complete this COVID-19 Daily Screening within two hours prior to entering any MCW-owned or leased facility. This must occur daily! MCW policy requires that you always wear your MCW Student ID visibly while in MCW buildings.
