Information on research security training for senior and key personnel on NSF and NIH sponsored funding applications.
About Research Security Training
In compliance with notices issued by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH), MCW requires Research Security Training for Senior/Key Personnel* on NSF and NIH sponsored funding applications. MCW is using the CITI platform to administer and track Research Security Training, which will also populate the eBridge Researcher Profile post-completion. MCW will certify compliance as part of the application, and proposals submitted without this certification may be deemed non-compliant.
The CITI Research Security course offers three modules:
- Research Security Training (Combined Course) A condensed and combined single-module course based on the NSF’s Research Security Training
- Research Security Training (NSF course)
- Research Security Advanced Refresher
The Combined Course is a condensed version that satisfies the training requirement and takes approximately one hour to complete. The below steps offer instruction for accessing the CITI course and timeline for eBridge verification. A CITI Research Security Module Training Guide (PDF) is also available.
- Log into CITI. If you have not registered, click the “Register” button to set up an account with “Medical College of Wisconsin” as your organization.
- View courses under Medical College of Wisconsin and find “Research Security.”
- In the module selection, click “Research Security Training (Combined Course) A condensed and combined single-module course based on the NSF’s Research Security Training.”
- Complete the module and take the Quiz at the end, which is a 1-question attestation of training.
- The training will appear in your Researcher Profile > Human Research Training in eBridge within 1-4 days. You have the option to download a Completion Certificate for your records.
