The Center for Patient Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) came into existence in January 2001. In July of 2018, PCOR is being re-launched and renamed the Center for Advancing Population Science (CAPS). This new name better reflects the Center's expanded health services research focus, emphasis on population science and global health, enhanced recruitment of new faculty and collaborators, and desire to improve engagement with community partners. The overall mission of CAPS is to develop, test and implement innovative strategies for transforming healthcare that optimizes quality, value and cost. Through innovative research, analysis, implementation and impact, CAPS will become a global leader in healthcare transformation.
This expanded focus will allow CAPS researchers to partner within and outside the institution to attract more collaborators, and better support MCW's existing Centers in creating tangible change in our communities.
The purposes of the Center are to conduct research on patient care services and related health outcomes, to facilitate a supportive environment for MCW investigators new to this area, to determine the need for and recruit new faculty in targeted methodologic areas, and to sponsor a health services research seminar series as a forum for the exchange of ideas.
To develop, test and implement innovative strategies for transforming healthcare that optimizes quality, value and cost.
To become a global leader in healthcare transformation through innovative research.
