PL2 residents gain additional experience in pediatric critical care, have more extensive outpatient experience and are exposed to community pediatrics and training in advocacy. PL2 residents also are introduced to a supervisory role by participating in night shift rotations where they are responsible for supervising PL1s.
At the completion of the PL2 year, our residents have received training which allows them to feel comfortable and capable of providing care to any patient in the hospital or in the clinic. The resident at this stage is ready to progress to the more supervisory third year or, in some cases, on an accelerated track to certain subspecialty fellowships.
Meet our second year residents
Residents receive instruction and experience caring for children of all ages with a wide variety of life-threatening conditions.
Similar to the PL1 year, however with greater supervisory experience.
Similar to PL1 experience.
