Medical College of Wisconsin Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program

About Our Program

Embark on a transformative journey in pediatric surgical critical care! Since 2005, our fellowship program has offered an unparalleled opportunity to develop expertise in the intricate care of critically ill and injured children. Imagine yourself immersed in a supportive and dynamic environment, working alongside leading experts in pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and critical care medicine. You'll gain hands-on experience managing complex cases, mastering advanced monitoring techniques, and leading multidisciplinary teams.

This is a one year fellowship open to those who will have finished their PGY3 surgical year prior to starting. There are opportunities for additional research year(s). You will rotate in the pediatric surgery senior call pool and following graduation, you are eligible to sit for surgical critical care boards through the ABS.

Beyond exceptional clinical training, our program is deeply committed to your professional growth. We provide robust mentorship, research opportunities, and a strong emphasis on leadership development. We are incredibly proud that for the last ten years, almost all of our graduating fellows have successfully matched into pediatric surgery fellowships, a testament to the quality of our training and the dedication of our faculty. Join our family and become a future leader in pediatric surgical care, making a profound difference in the lives of children and their families.

Curriculum

The curriculum includes our very own dedicated educational material specific to neonatal and pediatric surgical critical care. In addition, there are didactic opportunities in the NICU and PICU as well as “fellow-free Fridays” with the adult surgical critical care fellows at Froedtert/MCW. ATOM and ASSET courses are available, and you will take the MCCKAP practice exam in the spring.
