The goal of residency is to prepare you for practice as an independent physician. Graduates of our program are well trained for rural, international, underserved as well as urban and suburban settings. You will be ready to practice obstetrics, hospital medicine, nursing home care, procedural medicine and ambulatory care while simultaneously working with your community to improve the overall health of the people that live there. Our graduates are exceptionally well trained to provide high quality care for the full spectrum of patients from sick newborns to complicated geriatric patients and everyone in between. You may decide not to practice the full spectrum of Family Medicine after graduation, but it will be your choice to do so rather than due to lack of training.
Our curriculum teaches a core set of skills and knowledge that all Family Physicians should have, but also tailors the experience to the needs and passions of our residents. Every resident gets an individualized curriculum to help you grow specifically into the doctor you want to be. This starts in orientation and is revisited and modified as needed throughout your three years with us.
The greatest strength of any organization is the collection of people in it. We have outstanding faculty, residents, community physicians and staff that are all invested in caring for people and living and working in a true learning community.
You can check out one of the premiere training programs in the country and meet the people that make it such a great place to work, live and learn by visiting our Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency Program or coming to see us in person.
