Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer

Mitchell leads the institution’s Human Resources strategy, programs, and operations. Her portfolio spans Talent Acquisition, Executive, Faculty, and APP Recruitment, Organizational Development, Employee Relations, HR Advisory Services, Compensation, Benefits, Wellness, and HR Systems & Data Analytics.

She oversees the newly established Office of Workforce Engagement, which drives initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and advances MCW’s core values of caring, collaboration, curiosity, inclusivity, integrity, and respect. Adrienne also leads the Office of Equal Access, responsible for EEO compliance, accommodations, immigration services, Title IX administration, and faculty relations. In partnership with the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, she oversees operations and execution within the Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development.

Her work ensures alignment of HR and workforce strategies with MCW’s overall strategic priorities and those of its affiliate partners. She maintains strong relationships with department chairs, administrators, institutional leadership, and affiliate partners to ensure that the evolving needs of the workforce and organization are met.

Across her long-standing career, Adrienne has held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership. Adrienne joined MCW in January 2021 as the inaugural Chief People Officer. Prior to her role with MCW, Adrienne was Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, and Chief Information Officer at Wayne Health, reporting to the CEO and President, where she was the senior executive responsible for human resources, payroll, credentialing, marketing and communications, information technology, and decision support. Before moving to Wayne Health, Adrienne served as Associate Vice President, HR Technology and Operational Excellence at Rush University Medical Center. Prior to her move to Rush University Medical Center, Adrienne served in various HR leadership positions at both the University of Chicago Medicine and the University of Chicago.

Adrienne earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Human Resources and Health Sector Management from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Information Systems from Eastern Michigan University. Adrienne is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SCP), and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
