Safety Compliance Training

Research safety compliance training is managed through the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) office. Training is 100% online using D2L.

You must first register for your respective courses on the EHS website (intranet access required).

EHS also publishes an easy-to-use Required Training grid to help identify what courses you may need.

Bloodborne Pathogens for Research Staff
Must complete annually

Bloodborne Pathogens for Clinicians
Must complete annually

Laboratory Safety Training
Must complete initially and every three years
Includes three parts:

  • Part A:  Laboratory Chemical Safety
  • Part B:  Laboratory Waste
  • Part C:  rDNA Awareness

Shipping Biological Materials
Must complete every two years

  • Shipping Biological Materials Awareness (prerequisite)
  • Category A Materials
  • Category B Materials
  • Genetically Modified Organisms
  • Dry Ice
  • Exempt Patient Specimens
  • Used Health Care Products
  • Dry Liquid Nitrogen

Recombinant DNA (rDNA) Training
For Principal Investigators and their Research Staff
Must complete every three years

Recombinant DNA (rDNA) for Human Gene Transfer (HGT) Trials Training
For Clinical Staff (not PIs/Research Staff)
Must complete every three years

Hazard Communication Training
For new employees
