Our Spine Biomechanics research includes the generation of data regarding adverse mechanical loading conditions known to trigger spine degeneration or injury, as well as the creation of patient-specific models of the spine for use in predicting the efficacy of proposed spinal surgeries. Insights into the biomechanical behavior of the spine can provide surgeons with a rationale for which surgical techniques are likely to work best in treating patients, improving patient care and reducing the risk of further or recurrent injury.
