Karen Evangelista was a 2014 Graduate of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology (M & I) at MCW. In the spring of 2020, Karen passed after a long battle with cancer. During her time in the department, Karen was well known for her kind and generous nature, as well as her willingness to provide a helping hand to anyone in need. To honor Karen’s memory, the department has established the Karen Evangelista Humanitarian Award to recognize a current M & I student who exhibits these qualities and who serves as an exemplary role model to others.
