Cardiovascular Research and Care

Heart disease is a leading cause of death and disability nationwide, and Wisconsin communities suffer from disparities in cardiovascular disease incidence. But with your help, we can change these odds. The MCW Cardiovascular Center works with the clinical team at Froedtert Hospital to improve cardiovascular health through innovative, cutting-edge research and care. Leaders in translational research for more than two decades, MCW and Froedtert are focused on science that helps improve the prevention, detection, treatment, and cure of cardiovascular disease in children and adults.

Our Programs

With newly enhanced programs in heart failure and heart transplant, MCW and Froedtert are poised for a new era in cardiovascular research. To offer the best patient care, we need philanthropic support for four signature programs.

Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology

Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology

We’re studying the role of metabolism, blood and vascular biology, and inflammation in cardiovascular health and disease.
Cardiac Biology and Heart Failure

Cardiac Biology and Heart Failure

We’re translating fundamental discoveries in heart structure and function into better research and patient care.
Cardio-Oncology

Cardio-Oncology

We’re studying the impact of cancer therapies on cardiovascular health and the long-term effects on cancer survivors.
Hypertension

Hypertension

We’re integrating high blood pressure research at MCW and expanding communication among scientists in the field.
Precision Cardiovascular Medicine

Precision Cardiovascular Medicine

We’re enhancing our understanding of genetic predisposition to cardiovascular diseases and personalizing treatment approaches.
Prevention

Prevention

We’re coalescing investigators focused on improving cardiovascular health and reducing mortality from cardiovascular disease through behavioral lifestyle interventions.
Redox Biology and Medicine

Redox Biology and Medicine

We’re integrating and promoting research related to free radicals and oxidative and reductive stress.
